Went to the show with a friend who just moved to Philadelphia last summer. He's just my age and also spent the better part of 10 years abroad (also, mostly in Switzerland). It felt good to catch up with someone and re-hash it all - from being a foreigner to the whole re-entry experience...all mixed in with some good old fashioned "memory lane" stories, of course, and our mutual excitement about how some things are just better here - like artichokes and avocados.
Strange how certain things look the same and different. He is thrilled, giddy, he said about the extended shopping hours, and I find it all a bit exhausting (you could run errands here around the clock if you wanted to!). Anyway, it was fun to talk it over...
After a delectable dinner (he's quite a cook, my friend) & a concert worthy of the standing ovation it got, we topped the evening off with some fabulous - eat it with a spoon - hot chocolate from here...don't tell the Swissies, but it was as good as anything either of us had ever had there!
Who knew, Philadelphia has such good chocolate? One more reason to go back. In fact, H and I have already got the next trip booked...
