Cottage camping & berry picking

I think we're somewhere around day 17 of the renovation work now. The floors in the front bedroom and our bedroom were refinished these past two days, and we put some new hardwood in the hallway. No more carpet in the main house! Last night, we packed up and moved out to the cottage since access to the bedrooms is temporarily out of the question with this project (and anyway, the fumes are kind of crazy!).

It's kind of fun out there on the other side of the garden - a bit like camping. And I love having the pool right outside the door - I swam a few laps early this morning before hopping through the shower. I just wish I could be a little braver - there's a serious berry thicket on the back side of the cottage, but I'm afraid of the snakes back there (even with H's waders on).

Wild berries

Thankfully, there are plenty more (wild raspberry is a native plant here, and it thrives in more than a few spots in our garden) that are easier to get to along some of the other edges of the garden  - wild berries every morning for breakfast these days. Yum...
