Acclimating

I'm a jumble of thoughts these days. It's been too long since I really tried to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) to try and organize it all into something that makes a bit of sense. The only thing I feel like I've arranged this week (besides a little white table cloth dinner last night for an out of town guest) was a bouquet of flowers or two. I feel positively behind on just about everything else.

About the only thing that's organized

I'm still acclimating, I guess. My family came for a visit earlier this month. The weather has changed again. To say we have seasons here would be an understatement. This week is damp. And the garden is so green and lush and swampy that I keep half expecting to see a dinosaur coming out of the woods...so far, I've only found a few plastic ones from the family who used to live here (I love finding things like this- it reminds me of a short story, This Blessed House, by Jhumpa Lahiri).

The brook is as busy as ever. It's still spring, but the dogwood are giving up the last of their pinky-white blooms (as big as my palm, each one of them)....And the light has changed. Getting used to it, canopies of green everywhere. So pretty...
