Mind the dear poop, dearheart...

So we've done it! We're homeowners...we've moved in and are even semi-unpacked. Still lots to do. I haven't hardly touched the clothes and shoes, for instance (we've lived with just 2 suitcases worth for this long, what's another week or so!)....

Airing out the armoire (with some help from Alice)
Alice helped quite a bit with the unpacking
We just love the house...the floor plan, the windows, the setting - the barn....the brook! Straight out of a storybook. The neighborhood, too. People are so friendly. I don't think I've ever quite been someplace so welcoming - all in a funny, no fuss, New Jersey kind of a way...And the movers were a dream - good guys, who were more careful about tracking mud and dirt into the house than we were.

Speaking of dirt - it's been quite a cleaning mission here. We're out in the countryside (hard to believe New York is only about 35 miles away, the way the crow flies), which makes it all the more interesting.

The real estate agent who helped sell the house sort of set the tone for this past week during the walk-through (the worst in 17 years, she told me with a smile). "Mind the deer poop, dearheart," she kept telling me as we zig-zagged across the back lawn. Let's just say that was just the beginning. It's a good thing I'm not too squeamish.....and crazy about this house...
