Ce week-end

Enfin il y du soleil!

We pulled out the table and chairs for the garden and had our first apéro of the season outside yesterday. It wasn't exactly warm, but warm enough! Even if daffodils aren't quite blooming yet, the sun is out, the first few periwinkles are showing and the ground is ready for planting (and we even had time for a trip to the nursery this afternoon). And there are bulbs everywhere in the house, including a few dozen of the most perfectly delicate pink tulips. Spring flowers are (among) my favourites.

Spring morning

Today was a putzy Sunday, like I love them. Fresh eggs for breakfast. No chickens in the backyard yet, (we'll leave that to friends and neighbours), but we did have a new perfect dozen from the wonderful farm around the corner).

Avant

Après

After breakfast, there was time for hanging pictures (a rare moment at our house, don't ask me why). Most of what we have comes from somewhere we've lived, or the surroundings. We just added this photo, from Central Park in the forties, into the mix this past weekend.

City parks

With the new addition, the living (right in the middle of the country) room has unofficially become the city park room. On the other side of the room, there's a large print from Tinguely (who made the coolest fountain in Basel) and old photos of the Tiergarten in Berlin on the mantle.

City in the country

The latter have made their way back and forth across the Atlantic a few times over now. We used to live around the corner from there, but I found them back at home in the family shop in the Bay Area. We took them back to Switzerland and had them re-framed there. Now they are back on this side of the pond, again. The tree on the right actually perfectly echoles the one in our back yard, and both remind me that we've always been fortunate enough to live near to good walking territory. Lucky us...
