Saturday, with melting snow (on the eve of springing forward)

We have a warm(ish) sunny Saturday, and the snow is melting. Exciting! Instead of the storm that didn't come earlier in the week, we had another that landed early Friday, just in time to make a trip into the city yesterday all the more complicated. C'était un bon paquet (de neige) to contend with in the morning. As much as I love snow, I'm ready for spring. And as fond as I am of Manhattan, I'm very happy not to commute every day. Here's to life in the country. I think I've mentioned this a time or two before here.

Our local farm stand was open again today, which helped get the weekend off to a good start. We have a great young farmer, who is working towards having more and more available in winter...this is a welcome change here. Today, there were all sorts of greens: Nüsslisalat (guess it's called mache here), baby beet greens, spinach and miners lettuce....and a fresh duck eggs. He'll also have ramps there soon (the North American version of Bärlauch)...yum...spring is on the way. Looking forward to longer days (clocks move forward tonight, hurray), warmer weather and all the rest.
