Garden

We finally started working in the garden - the weather even half way cooperated yesterday. Lots of work ahead, but the blooming daffodils and budding branches are encouraging (as is knowing that we found a lovely woman who will come once a week to help with the lawn/hedging/etc).

Wild daffodils

H started clearing the leaves out of the pond…and moved a few of the small islands around. The next step will require a pair of high boots. So far, we haven't spotted any snapping turtles (our neighbor across the street saw one once), but we did run across a snake in the forest (H won't be wearing flip flops back there again anytime soon). Yikes.  Mr. and Mrs. Duck didn’t think much of this project – we just hope they’ll come back soon.

The pond project

We have many more projects in mind: planting a small vegetable garden (don't tell the local wildlife, they're not invited to play in there), improving our bbq skills, fencing in the pool...maybe even building a deck? In short, there are far more ideas than we'll get around to this first summer, especially because lounging around out there, reading, relaxing and enjoying the fresh country air are also all part of our plans…
