Preventative measures and small joys

It's been a tough year on this side...the last few months in particular.

Working out ways to make it all better going forward. H is better at this than I am --it's official! Proof in point, we have a generator now. The early autumn camping trip won't be repeated (at least not to the same extent). Heat and running water are particularly good things to have.

The electricians found a little surprise in the basement though during the installation yesterday --seems we have some wildlife down there --the famous snake. That's one way to make sure there aren't any mice. The exterminator comes tomorrow. Yes, life in the country continues to be exciting and challenging.

In spite of it all, there have been a few lovely moments these past few weeks and months. A trip to Natural Bridges with my mom and the kids was the highlight, by far. There's something about sticking your feet in the sand and the water (with the seaweed and the salt) that makes it all make sense again.
