The Big Dig

Finally! We have proper drainage. H has been playing with tubes for months to get as much water as possible away from the house. Granted, the house has survived 200+ years like this, but still. Neither of us coped too well with the dampness in the cellar or along the house. A few weeks ago, we decided to call up some professional help.

 And today, they came today for the big dig. There's something exciting about having heavy machinery in the yard.



It was a little nerve-wracking, but fun...and fast. They were a good crew! I think they had a bit of culture shock with us, though (per tradition back in the village, we served lunch and ate together).
 
Just a few finishing  touches to go, before we're all set. Next weekend, they'll be back for a little landscaping. I'm excited to see it finished
